Police have charged 25-year-old Faheem Green, a Newark resident, with a string of offenses that prosecutors say include robbery, aggravated sexual assault in the course of a felony, aggravated assault, attempted murder and criminal restraint.

According to the public safety statement, the first victim, described as a nun, reported she was struck and fell to the pavement before her purse was taken. She was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
Roughly 30 minutes later, a second woman reported being followed after disembarking a bus at Hudson Street near Central Avenue. The assailant demanded her purse; she complied, then was struck in the face with a firearm, pushed to the ground, and choked until she lost consciousness. When she regained consciousness she discovered she had been sexually assaulted, police said. She also required hospital care.
"Detectives identified a Newark resident after reviewing surveillance footage from both crime scenes," the Newark Department of Public Safety said.
