The North Dakota Soybean Council (NDSC) named its executive officers for the 2027 fiscal year during a board meeting in June, selecting leaders drawn from soybean-producing districts across the state.

New leadership drawn from farm communities

Evan Montgomery of Grand Forks will serve as chairman. He represents District 7, which covers Grand Forks and Traill counties. Montgomery's family has raised soybeans since the 1980s and operates a livestock enterprise that includes cattle and a substantial horse boarding and training facility. He holds a degree in vocal performance from North Dakota State University and is active locally with the Brenna Township Board, the Grand Forks Master Chorale and community theater. He also serves NDSC on the North Dakota Livestock Alliance Board.

“I appreciate the confidence of my fellow board members in electing me chairman,” Montgomery said. “NDSC is a farmer-led board, and I look forward to working alongside the board and staff to strengthen opportunities for North Dakota soybean farmers at home and in global markets.”

Ted Brandt of Enderlin was elected vice chairman. Brandt represents District 2 (Ransom and Sargent counties). He farms soybeans, corn and wheat, holds a degree from North Dakota State University and is involved with the Sheyenne Valley Trail Association. Nationally, he serves on the U.S. Soybean Export Council’s Soy Excellence Center Global Advisory Panel for the 2026-27 term.

Jeremiah Undem of Oakes will be secretary. Representing District 3 (LaMoure and Dickey counties), Undem farms on a fifth-generation operation that raises soybeans and corn, with occasional wheat and rye. He employs minimum-till and strip-till practices with attention to soil health, and holds degrees in landscape architecture and environmental design from North Dakota State University. He also represents NDSC on the Soy Transportation Coalition board.

Dallas Loff of Wahpeton was reelected treasurer. Loff represents District 1 (Richland County) and has continued experience farming row crops including soybeans and corn.

What this means for farmers

The executive committee guides NDSC's farmer-led approach to research, market development and outreach. With members who serve on regional and national advisory panels and transportation and livestock boards, the committee links local farm priorities to broader supply-chain and export conversations.

  • Representation: Officers come from four distinct districts across eastern North Dakota.
  • Expertise: The committee includes members active in national export work, transportation advocacy and livestock issues.
  • Focus areas: Soil health, production practices, market access and community engagement were noted activities among the officers.
Officer Town District / Counties Role
Evan Montgomery Grand Forks District 7 (Grand Forks, Traill) Chairman
Ted Brandt Enderlin District 2 (Ransom, Sargent) Vice Chairman
Jeremiah Undem Oakes District 3 (LaMoure, Dickey) Secretary
Dallas Loff Wahpeton District 1 (Richland) Treasurer

The council's leadership choices reflect continuity in farmer representation across eastern North Dakota. For producers, this executive committee will help set priorities tied to research investments, export development and advocacy on transportation and livestock intersections that affect soybean movement and markets.

News Block will continue to follow NDSC activities and report on programs, funding decisions and initiatives that could affect local producers and regional ag economies.
