HIGHLAND COUNTY — A 17-year-old boy from Seaman was killed Friday afternoon when his car was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of State Route 131 and State Route 134, authorities said.
Crash details and injuries
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the collision occurred at about 2:15 p.m.. Troopers said the teenager, identified as Brice Lynch, was driving a 2009 Pontiac G5 eastbound on State Route 131 when his vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD driven by a 60-year-old man from Pleasant Plain.
A preliminary investigation found Lynch failed to yield at a stop sign before the impact. Both vehicles left the roadway and struck a barn. Lynch was ejected from his car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the patrol spokesperson said.

Fatal collisions at rural intersections are a recurring safety concern in parts of southern Ohio, where higher speeds and limited sight lines can increase crash severity. Local officials and state troopers often urge drivers to approach stop-controlled intersections with caution and to ensure they have clear right of way before entering.
Families and the broader Highland County community are affected when a young life is lost on local roads. The patrol's continuing inquiry will determine whether additional enforcement or engineering changes at the intersection are warranted.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Ohio State Highway Patrol post handling the investigation.
