SHREVEPORT, La. — The Louisiana Democratic Party is rolling out a multi-parish outreach drive this weekend, bringing its "No More Silence Louisiana Teach and Vote Tour" to Shreveport on Saturday for a morning event at the Greenwood Library.
Tour aims to meet communities across the state
The party said the tour will press into neighborhoods often overlooked in statewide politics, with stops planned in Shreveport, Ruston, Monroe and Alexandria. The Shreveport session runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday and will feature remarks from U.S. Senate Democratic nominee Jamie Davis.
The event is co-hosted locally by State Sen. Sam Jenkins. Party officials say the tour will combine voter education with organizing and a focus on legal protections for ballots in the wake of recent court rulings affecting election law.
"This tour is about meeting people where they are," Louisiana Democratic Party Chair Randal Gaines said. "For too long, too many communities across Louisiana have felt unheard and overlooked. We're taking our message directly into neighborhoods because democracy is strongest when every voice is heard."

Local stakes and wider context
State Democrats framed the initiative as both an organizing push and an educational effort ahead of fall elections and ongoing legal debates over voting rules. The party chair emphasized outreach to communities that party leaders say feel neglected — a message aimed at rebuilding ground-level operations across multiple parishes.
For residents in Shreveport and surrounding parishes, the appearance of a statewide nominee and state leaders offers a chance to hear party positions on local concerns and on voter protections after recent court decisions that have reshaped election litigation nationwide. Local co-hosts say they want the events to be practical as well as political: informing voters about registration, polling locations and what to expect on election day.
Those planning to attend should check local party channels for updates on exact times and any changes to venues or schedules. The party also noted additional outreach will continue after the weekend visits.
News Block will monitor the tour as it continues through the weekend and report any developments, including statements from visiting officials and turnout at the Shreveport event.
