The USA Elite Masters Invitational continued Saturday in Savannah with local lifters turning in record-setting performances that energized the crowd at the venue. Two members of Team Savannah — Henry Brower in the M40 (40–44) division and Jared Coon in the M45 division — each posted multiple new marks in their weight classes.
Local support and team training credited for breakthroughs
Brower, competing in the 70 kg category, set new records across both lifts and the combined total. He recorded a new snatch on his second attempt and then surpassed that mark on his third attempt, before setting a new clean and jerk record and establishing a fresh overall total for his division. Brower attributed the day to training partners and coaches and to having family in the stands.
“The training with my training partners and the coaches, i mean pushing each other… Being local, having my family here, i mean that’s great, my mom and dad and my family so.”
He reiterated the boost from family presence:
“I think it was the family being here, that extra motivation… You know, you wake up and you never know how the days going to go, but it went really great today.”
Another strong showing in the M45 division
Also representing Team Savannah, Jared Coon produced a day of big lifts in the M45 group. Coon set three new records: he narrowly improved his snatch, delivered a substantially stronger clean and jerk, and raised his overall total by more than 20 kilograms. Those marks added to the local delegation’s medal and record count at the Invitational.

The performances highlight Savannah’s presence in masters-level weightlifting and underscore the role of local training groups and family support in competitive outcomes.
