Two Coral Springs residents have been identified as the victims of a single-vehicle crash that killed them late on June 27 outside Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, authorities said.
The Coconut Creek Police Department released the names of the deceased Wednesday as Jermaine Antonio George, 30, and Khayla Darchelle Jennings, 26. Police said their vehicle ran off Sample Road and struck a light pole around 10:30 p.m.
What authorities say
Officials reported the car struck a concrete pole near the park entrance and that both occupants died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved, according to police. Investigators have not yet completed toxicology and other tests, and the cause of the crash remains under review.
Police have indicated speed was a factor in the crash, though final determinations await laboratory results and the ongoing investigation.
