Indiana's franchise guard Caitlin Clark will suit up Sunday against the Las Vegas Aces but will remain on a strict minutes plan as the Fever continue to manage a lingering back problem, head coach Stephanie White said Saturday.
Managed return after recurring back issue
White told reporters the three-time All-Star will be available for the Fever’s road finale but will be limited to 20 to 25 minutes in an effort to limit the risk of further aggravation. Clark aggravated a back injury in the June 24 game at Phoenix, missed multiple games and has been eased back into action on a conservative timeline.
“Caitlin Clark will be available against Las Vegas tomorrow, Steph White says, on a 20-25 minutes restriction.” — Chloe Peterson (@chloepeterson67)
Clark logged just 16 minutes in Wednesday’s 106-92 loss at the Los Angeles Sparks, finishing with nine points, four rebounds and three assists while admitting the limited stints made it hard to find a rhythm. She also committed four turnovers in that appearance. Indiana opted to rest her for the second game of a back-to-back later in the trip.
What this means for the Fever
The Fever enter the game at 13-9, holding seventh place in the WNBA standings. Clark has already appeared in 18 games this season — more than last year, when injuries restricted her to 13 appearances — and is averaging 20.5 points, 7.9 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.
- Game: Indiana Fever at Las Vegas Aces
- Tipoff: 8:30 p.m. ET Sunday
- TV/stream: NBC/Peacock
- Clark’s minutes limit: 20–25
The Fever have prioritized long-term availability over short-term gains in managing Clark’s workload. That approach figures to influence lineup rotations and playcalling Sunday, as Indiana looks to close a four-game road trip on a positive note while protecting its rising star ahead of the season’s second half.
| Stat | Figure |
|---|---|
| Team record | 13-9 |
| Clark games played (2026) | 18 |
| Scoring average | 20.5 points |
| Assists | 7.9 per game |
| Rebounds | 4.0 per game |
| Field goal% | 42.6% |
| 3-point% | 33.6% |
| Free throw% | 85.4% |
For Marion County and Indiana sports fans, the decision underscores the franchise’s shift to a cautious posture with its marquee player after last season’s injury-marred campaign. How the Fever balance Clark’s minutes while maintaining their standing in a competitive Eastern Conference will be a storyline to monitor as the regular season progresses.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET Sunday on NBC and Peacock. The Aces enter the game at 16-6, making this a key test for Indiana as it attempts to finish the road swing strong and protect its investment in Clark’s health.
